Highland IM Scholarship Program
Thank you very much for your interest in the Highland Internal Medicine Visiting Elective Scholarship Program! The Highland Internal Medicine Visiting Elective Scholarship Program was established to encourage fourth year medical students who are underrepresented in medicine to attend rotations at our community based Internal Medicine training program set in a busy safety net hospital.
We hope to promote student interest in applying to our Internal Medicine residency training program
Scholarship recipients receive generous support to help facilitate their participation in an elective rotation at our institution, including the following:

ELIGIBILITY
-
Fourth year visiting medical students whose racial or ethnic identities are underrepresented in medicine, students who identify as LGBTQ, students with disabilities, students who are first generation to college, and/or students from disadvantaged backgrounds (e.g. family with an annual income below established low-income thresholds).

Student must be in good academic standing at an accredited medical school
SELECTION
Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of:

Interest in pursuing a career in Internal Medicine
-
Interest in serving underserved populations
-
Academic achievement (as indicated by transcripts, letter of recommendation, etc.)
-
Demonstrating a commitment to the advancement of culturally and/or linguistically responsive care or diversity through leadership, research or community involvement.
